About Us

History

Southern Aurora Contracting Pty Ltd began in October 2006. We were established to satisfy a growing demand for quality site personnel, primarily in the construction and mining industries. We serve the Australia and the Asia Pacific region.

We have developed a strong market position in the supply of quality people for construction and maintenance work on sites throughout Australia.

Company Structure

Southern Aurora Contracting is a private company. We employ four core personnel: one managing director and three site supervisors:

  • John Fraser-Easton is the only director of Southern Aurora Contracting and relies on the Site Managers for the day to day control of the site employees.
  • Greg Saathoff-Thies — Site Manager. Supervises site employees.
  • Jonathon Page — Site Manager. Supervises site employees.
  • Peter Jennings — is responsible for company procurement and the site contract progress.

All of our management team have tertiary or trade backgrounds or other alternate qualifications and are highly qualified and experienced in site works. Our team has a vast amount of experience received outside the company, including overseas.

In addition, we have a pool of fibreglass skilled site workers that we call upon to work on jobs throughout the region. We have brought together this previously fragmented vital resource, into a cohesive team capable of carrying out major installations. We increase or decrease the quantity of this work force in order to meet job requirements.

Strengths

Our greatest asset is our people. We have a wealth of site experience and technical knowledge. Our original approach to site requirements and the use of cost effective resources, establishes us as leaders in the industry. This, together with the acceptance of us on site by clients, makes us the preferred supplier in our field.

Our team has selected key position employees that have a broad range of trade qualifications, site experience and other technically related skills.

Our pipe and fitting team in particular has a high level of skills in interpreting engineering drawings and manufacturing spools to allow sufficient tolerance for the associated final fit-up of the installation. Our quality control and speed of carrying out fibreglass jointing in this area gives us inherent advantages.

Initial moves have also been made into the accreditation of employees to carry out the spooling and installation of Ameron pipe systems. This accreditation will enable us to work in petrochemical construction and industrial applications both locally and offshore.

Our site installation work is increasing due to the rapid growth in the use of composites to replace traditional materials such as rubber linings and stainless steel structures.

We expect to supply approximately 50% of the work force to new selected projects and 50% of the existing maintenance contracts. This will also enables us to expand our supply of resources to base work. With respect to the maintenance contracts, we expect to be requested by our clients to supply fibreglass components and extra resources for crucial shutdowns. We are not a manufacturing business. Therefore, for site driven components we seek the most cost effective methods of procurement from local and overseas suppliers. We have established a network of specialist fibreglass suppliers both here in Australia and in SE Asia.

Clients

Our clients include most of the major construction companies in Australia. Our Sales and Marketing team have developed firm business relationships with our major customers. Good project management and procurement skills together with dedicated installation teams give us a satisfied customer base.

We are highly respected and relied upon for the specialist technical skills and knowledge which can provide.

Our international outlook extends beyond Australia into the Asia-Pacific region.
