Certification of Fitters, Supervisors and Inspectors

Composite Pipes and Fittings

Southern Aurora Contracting, in conjunction with TAFE NSW – Hunter Institute, has developed a suitable training course to certify Fitters, Supervisors and Inspectors in the elements of installation of GRP Composites pipes.

The standard used as the basis of the training is:

ISO 14692-4:2002(E) – Annex D – Qualification of pipe fitter, supervisor and inspector

The course and programme have third party validation by Bureau Veritas.

Several core employees of Southern Aurora Contracting have been trained in the three levels of the course. The Inspectors have been accepted as on site trainers with the TAFE issuing the formal Certification to the trained individuals.

Further certification to pipe sizes outside the ISO standard (a single test pipe of 150mm diameter) can be conducted on site with data collected and certified by the Inspector. These pipe sizes and pressure ratings shall be representative of the site requirements. See Table D.1 – Range of pipe diameters approved for fitter repair.
