Inspection and Testing

Inspection

Over the last 10 years Southern Aurora Contracting have been actively carrying out third party inspections on fibreglass manufacture of pipe and fittings, tanks, vessels, concrete protection, walkway panels and also quality documentation.

Clients have requested us to be involved in the preparation of site specific testing of laminators, and then further random inspection of site laminators while undertaking their day to day tasks.

Testing

Hydrostatic Testing

  1. We test pipe spools to the site requirements. This also includes, while the tests are being conducted, testing for hoop and axial strain. We have the equipment to digitally record the pressure test against time.
  2. Tanks – carry out on site head tests to confirm acceptance of the tank.

Load TestingInspection and Testing

  1. We recently conducted load tests on walkway panels over the inlet works at a Sydney Waste Water site to test the deflection of the fibreglass panel and was measured against an allowable deflection (the results are below).
  2. Reports were issued and a corrective action offered to the Client.

Laminate Testing

  • We have the resources of Bureau Veritas International Trade Australia in Newcastle available to carry out laminate testing.
    1. Tensile tests
    2. Air void testing
    3. Glass to resin ratios
  • We have equipment to test laminate hardness as well as the strain tests for axial and hoop.
